Port Blair, Jan 2: Hon'ble Justice Shampa Sarkar and Hon'ble Justice Tirthankar Ghosh, Judges of the Calcutta High Court shall be sitting/holding Circuit Court at Port Blair from Jan. 8 to 22, 2024 (both days inclusive).

Port Blair, Jan 1: With an aim to enhance local sports and cultural infrastructure, the Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon'ble Lt. Governor of A & N Islands to construct a mini stadium at the renowned Vivekananda Ground in Vivek Nagar (Bachra Pahad), under Chouldari Panchayat.

In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament mentioned that the Vivekananda Ground has been a central hub for sports, cultural, and social activities for local villagers and youths for several decades.

Diglipur, Jan 1: The long wait spanning decades to see the construction work of a Bus Stand and Passenger Hall at Dilgipur Headquarter area continues and the local people are getting desperate now. However, the persistent requests from the Public Representatives over the years have at last shown some positive results in the last month, and the District's Deputy Commissioner has ordered to setting apart of one government land for this cause. Situated at Ram Krishna Gram Village, near the Community Health Centre, bearing Survey No: 335/3 the land measuring an area of 0.0750 hectares has become a dream Project for the deprived People of North Andaman.

Port Blair, Jan 1: On 21st November, 2023, Shri. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member-BJP met Shri. Bhupendra Yadav, Hon'ble Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India at New Delhi and raised the issue with respect of early notifications of Re-Constitution of State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) and State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC), A & N Islands. He had pointed out that in order to Re-Constitute the aforementioned Authority & Committee, recently the proposed names of its members was forwarded by the A&N Administration before the Ministry for its approval and the same is pending for its approval and subsequent notification.

Port Blair, Jan 1: The CPI (M) has demanded to fill up the 413 vacant posts of Primary School Teachers in the Education Department immediately. In a letter sent to the Lt Governor, A & N Islands today (1.1.2024), D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee said that about 413 posts of Primary School Teachers are lying vacant in the Education Department for the last several years. This is in addition to the 198 posts of PSTs kept reserved for the candidates whose cases are pending before the Hon’ble Supreme Court.
